- Process for making finished plaster sculptures
This workshop offers a comprehensive introduction to mold making and casting sculptures. It is aimed at participants who want to learn how to transform their workpieces into impressive plaster copies. Two options are offered: the silicone version and the waste-mold version. Each option offers a unique process for making plaster copies and allows participants to preserve their artistic work.
Silicone Version: In this option, participants will learn the process for creating finished cast sculptures using silicone. The workshop covers topics such as making a multi-purpose mold, handling silicone, designing mother molds from plaster and burlap, and choosing the placement of buttons in the mold. Participants also learn how to organize their shapes and use release agents. An introduction to the design of fragments in sculpture is also offered. The workshop concludes with the casting and cleaning of a plaster copy.
Waste-Mold Version: This option focuses on the process of making plaster sculptures using waste-mold (disposable molds). Participants will learn how to create waste molds in plaster and burlap, select space for buttons in the mold, and organize their molds. Release agents and design for fragments in sculpture are also covered. The workshop includes opening and cleaning the mold, applying release agents and beginning the plaster copy. Finally, the plaster copy is cast and cleaned.
