Who is this course for?
For anyone interested in exploring sculptural work – with or without prior experience. You’ll learn the fundamentals of modeling step by step, using classical David fragments as reference.
What will I learn?
Materials
You’ll learn how to work with clay and tools, and how to set up your workspace – the foundation for clean and efficient sculpting
Anatomy and Measurement Techniques
Using a David fragment of your choice (mouth, eye, nose, or ear), you’ll practice basic facial anatomy and learn how to apply measurement methods for accurate modeling.
Modeling Techniques
You’ll work with water-based clay using an additive approach, developing a sense for volume, structure, and expression.
Note on the Sculpture
The sculpture you create during the workshop is not a finished final piece. You can choose to have it fired later or create a mold in our Casting Workshop. We’re happy to recommend external mold-making services as well.
Process & schedule
- 5-day long workshop, 30 hours of lessons in total
- Class times: Monday-Friday from 9:30-16:30
- Lunch break: 12:30-13:30
- Language: German and/or English, depending on individual language skills

Materials needed
Before the workshop begins, you’ll receive a materials list to help you gather everything you need. The cost of essential items such as clay and armatures is already included in the course fee. If you need modeling tools, you can purchase them on-site.
For a more convenient option, you can also order our Starter Set Sculpting and receive all required materials at the start of the workshop.
