This workshop is for anyone who interested in working with clay – whether you’re modelling for the first time or already have experience.
What will I learn?
Modeling with Clay
You’ll receive a clear introduction to clay modeling, including material knowledge, tools, and a practical step-by-step guide.
Portrait from a Life Model
Using a professional armature, you’ll sculpt a portrait based on a life model. You’ll apply head proportion theory directly and develop a strong sense of form and expression.
Refinement & Technique
You’ll refine transitions, work on texture and volume, and learn how to use modeling tools, armature styles, and various materials to create a compelling sculpture.
Note on the Sculpture
The sculpture you create during the workshop is not a finished final piece. You can choose to have it fired later or create a mold in our Casting Workshop. We’re happy to recommend external mold-making services as well.

Process & schedule
- 5-day long workshop, 30 hours of lessons in total
- Class times: Monday-Friday from 9:30-16:30
- Lunch break: 12:30-13:30
- Language: German and/or English, depending on individual language skills

Materials needed
Before the workshop begins, you’ll receive a materials list to help you gather everything you need. The cost of essential items such as clay and armatures is already included in the course fee. If you need modeling tools, you can purchase them on-site.
For a more convenient option, you can also order our Starter Set Sculpting and receive all required materials at the start of the workshop.
