Who is this course for?
This workshop is for participants with prior oil painting experience. It builds on the Oil Painting Basics workshop and deepens the classic techniques of the old masters.
What will I learn?
Light-dark Painting
You’ll start off with an exercise about light-dark painting (Chiaroscuro), where you’ll learn how old masters constructed their work based on their paintings. This way you’ll develop a great understanding of classic image design.
Master Copy
You’ll get to choose a painting and create your own master copy. For this, you will use the reliable Zorn palette from the old master Andreas Zorn and consolidate your knowledge of composition and color choice.
Glazing Technique
At the end you’ll learn about the glazing technique. It uses transparent layers of paint to give your paintings unique depth and brilliance.
Process & schedule
- 5-day long workshop, 30 hours of lessons in total
- Class times: Monday-Friday from 9:30-16:30
- Lunch break: 12:30-13:30
- Language: German and/or English, depending on individual language skills

Materials needed
