For beginners, advanced learners, and anyone with some experience in portraiture—whether using pencil, brush, or both. You set your own focus, and the course adapts to your skill level.
What will I learn?
2 Week of Drawing
We recommend you focus solely on drawing for the first two weeks, if you’ve never drawn from a life model. You’ll learn anatomy basics, measurement techniques and how to deal with light and shadow to accurately capture shapes.
2 Week of Oil Painting
If you’re experienced in drawing and oil painting, but you’ve never worked from a life model this course is for you: You’ll learn how to mix skin tones, how to implement light and shadow and apply anatomy - directly from a life model.
1 Week of Drawing & 1 Week of Oil Painting
If you’re experienced in drawing and oil painting, but not in portraiture? Then this variant of the course is ideal for you: You’ll be introduced into working from a life model – including anatomy, measurement methods and a practical palette for skin tones.

Process & schedule
- 10-day long workshop, 60 hours of lessons in total
- Class times: Monday-Friday from 9:30-16:30
- Lunch break: 12:30-13:30
- Language: German and/or English, depending on individual language skills

Materials needed
Before the Workshop starts, we’ll give you a list with the exact materials you are going to need. These consist of painting grounds, oil paints, brushes, pencils and kneaded erasers among other things.
If you want to have it easier, you could also buy our Starter Set Drawing and get all of the materials you need at the start of your workshop.
